FullWrite 1.7 is a minor upgrade to FullWrite. If you are upgrading from FullWrite 1.5s, there are only two differences:
• An incompatibility with Quadra and Centris Macintosh systems which had prevented FullWrite from being run if the 68040 processor cache was enabled has been fixed.
• An incompatibility with System 7 that caused the Set Margins dialog to disappear has been fixed.
If you have FullWrite 1.5s and do not have System 7 and/or a 68040 Macintosh, you do not need FullWrite 1.7.
••How do I get FullWrite 1.7?
There are two ways to get FullWrite 1.7:
• If you have FullWrite 1.5s, you can make use of one the converters included with this file. See below for instructions.
• Or, you may order a copy of FullWrite 1.7 from Akimbo Systems. The FullWrite 1.7 upgrade is available free of charge to owners of FullWrite 1.5 or above, and is $20 to owners of prior versions. A $7.50 shipping and handling charge applies. A dedicated toll-free number has been created to take orders for FullWrite 1.7 only. To order FullWrite 1.7, call 1-800-375-6515.
Akimbo Systems has announced that FullWrite 2 upgrades will be priced at $99 for all current users of FullWrite. Users paying $20 to upgrade to FullWrite 1.7 will be credited this amount when upgrading to FullWrite 2. This pricing effectively means that the FullWrite 1.7 upgrade is free of charge to all users who upgrade later to FullWrite 2.
••Using the Converters
If you have FullWrite 1.5s or 1.6(p1), you can use one of the FullWrite Converters to upgrade your copy of FullWrite. There are two converters — one for FullWrite 1.5s and one for FullWrite 1.6(p1). FullWrite 1.5s was the last version of FullWrite shipped by Ashton-Tate/Borland; FullWrite 1.6(p1) is the version number you would have if you had patched FullWrite 1.5s with a patch program supplied by Ashton-Tate/Borland.
To Convert Your Copy of FullWrite:
1) Backup your copy of FullWrite.
2) In the Finder, select FullWrite and choose Get Info from the File menu. Use the version number shown to determine which converter you need to use.
3) Run the appropriate converter and select your FullWrite application file when prompted to do so.
If you have virus protection software installed, you may need to deactivate it before running the converter. Don’t forget to reactivate it afterwards.
After conversion, the version number in the About box will not change, but the version number in the Finder’s Get Info window will indicate the correct version.
••Distributing the Converters
These converters may be freely distributed provided:
• The entire set of four files (2 converters, 2 Read Me files) are distributed together.
• The four files are not modified in any way.
• No charge is made for the converters. Standard connect charges for online services or standard disk copying charges for non-profit user groups are excluded.
